I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a one night backcountry trip in the white mountains. i work 6 days a week so i wont be able to get up to the mountains until around 7pm so preferrebly something where we can set up camp after a few miles. thanks!

Given your late arrival time means those few miles would be in fading light, I'd say that any of the backcountry sites along the Great Gulf Trail would be a good bet. That's one trail that's wide and obvious, not an issue for sunset or headlamp. If you have the 26th ed. of the WMG they're shown on the map as little triangles near the Bluff, Clam Rock, and a few other spots.

There's a designated campsite on the Dry River trail about 3 miles from US 302 in Crawford Notch. It's on the right across from the junction of the Mt. Clinton trail. (That's the name of the trail that goes up Mt. Pierce  )
