Car Camping near Stratton-Rangeley ME

I would like to climb Saddleback and the Horn next wekend.I usually make dayhikes after camping in my caravan or in a tent in campings like Hancock Campground in the Whites.

Are there some campgrounds opened for winter camping or is camping in the parking lots allowed ?

The Cupsuptic Campground on Rte 16 is open year-round. I don't know about other campgrounds. I doubt that trailhead camping is allowed, but then I've never tried it.

Don't forget to post a trip report. That's a winter trip I'd like to try some day.

The Cupsuptic Campground on Rte 16 is open year-round.

This place is a great basecamp. If you go there be sure to call ahead a few days in advance. They like to have a heads up to insure they have adequate space plowed out for campers.

Thanks everyone for the infos.That will be a nice place to camp.
Just checking the weather for sunday.If OK,we will get there saturday night and hike sunday.
