I passed by there on a day trip at the end of October and the shelter was in good shape. I can't provide a link to my pictures because Webshots is blocked here at work, but here's a trip report that contains a link to my pictures. I'm pretty sure I have a picture of the shelter in there which, again, I can't see at work....

Edit: Oops, sorry, just realized we might be talking about different things....noticed you said lean-to...is there a true lean-to different from the shelter? Err, anyway, perhaps my pics will still help...

In the Whites, Shelter = Lean-to

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

Sorry for the confusion, Bob, and

Thanks, David Metsky, for your help, and

The photos on your trip report, Bob, answer the question precisely: The shelter looks to be in fine condition (albeit leaning a little, must be what I was remembering).

Thanks, very helpful; we'll be using it very soon!

Happy New Year,

--Mike.

A more up-to-date photo for you

I was up checking on the hut on 12/19. I didn't notice anything, but now you mention it the lean-to does seem to look a bit cock-eyed. Hard to tell with the snow on it. Any way it looked suitable for a night out.

I'd never been there before. I had hard time finding it without an obvious trail. It was up on hill side aboe teh pond just below the ledges.

Thanks, Jazzbo, I see there's even still a broom in it!

I agree it's not immediately self-evident when you get there, but a little poking around above the pond and you can't miss it.

Thanks again for the updated pics.
