I am trying to find out if anyone has modified the pole attachments for these tents. I found one and it has a metal ring with a straight piece that the pole slides into.My kids tried to put it up and they were not strong enough. I would like to make it so the poles could just slip into an eyelet. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

On some of the Eureka tents with this style pole end, they are designed so that the "pin end" goes in first, and *then* the tent is tightened around it (the Timberlines work this way, for example). I frequently see issues with Scouts setting these up and put the pin in last, which doesn't work very well.

I also have a dome tent where the poles are in sleeves w/pins on both ends, and the trick there is sometimes to tilt the poles and let the tent body deform and create some slack. Works on all but the last one.

Good luck.
