trails: beaver brook xc trail, gale river road, gale river trail, garfield ridge trail, bushwhacks

conditions: beaver brook xc trail packed out. road hard packed by snowmobiles. gale river trail more lightly broken, but now pretty well packed down. we broke trail to just before our bushwhack up west garfield ridge where we met hikers coming the other way. up to a foot of powder on the ridge over base with deeper sections. snow piled in heavily in spots. bushwacks to both peaks are short, but scrappy and we hit good lines that didn't mean pushing through too much thicker growth. water crossing on lower gale river trail frozen solid.

equipment: snowshoes.

comments: beautiful day in the woods. nice snowshoeing up on the ridge. really enjoy the view from garfield ridge east on the ledges/cliffs just below the highpoint. thanks to jeremy and amy for a great hike.
