Kayak crack repair

Hey there,
I have a couple of 10 ft. walden paddlers kayaks. I did some work for the owner of this company and got a great deal on them. I belive this company is now out of bussiness. ( maybe bought out by walden kayaks ) I don't know, but it's a similar design with the same materials.
I've had them for 12+ years, and they owe me nothing.
Anyways, recently I discovered a crack on the bottom of one of them.
It's about 8-10" long and is visible from the inside.It looks pretty deep.
It does'nt leak yet but, I don't want to wait until it does.

Any idea's on how to patch this up?
Like I said, these things owe me nothing, I'd just like to get a little more life out of them.

What are they made out of? Fiberglass, plastic, kevlar, other?

Some sort of plastic.
The type where you walked into a ems, and looked up at the ceiling, and saw the cheapest kayak hanging up there. That would be it.

Probably Polyethylene. Better plastic boats are made of SLP or Super Linear Polyethylene. I have one of each but have never had to repair them. I'll see if I can find a link...

Wow,those patch kits are pretty pricy.
cantdog, I think that's the ticket. A little plastic welding.
That post was a few years back but, if this guy works out I'm buying you a 6-pack too! He also happens to live in the next town over from me. How convenient.

Nope! As much as Cantdog has tried to convince me that whitewater is the way to go,I'm a sea kayak kinda guy!
