leather boots
John,
I had a pair of Lowa's for awhile. Although they fit like a glove, they had multiple peices of leather(I think 7) that were sowed together that made up the boot. All those seems were bad for water, but made the fit great.
I have switched to an all leather( 1 peice) upper and am very happy with the way it keeps water out. I would shoot for a leather boot with as few peices as possible.
Also- I got 850 miles out of the Lowa's before blowout.
The next pair were Scarpa SL's( 1 peice upper) and got 1200 miles before the sole became detactched. I think I'll get them resoled. I'm now on a new pair with an 8 mile breakin, then did marshall without any foot problems. Their broke in good now.
