snowstorm

Lincoln & Lafayette, via Falling Waters Tr, Lafayette Ridge, Greenleaf, Old Bridle Path
Date of Hike: Sat. 9 Mar, 2013
Trail Conditions: Little new snow fell in this area of the white mountains. Trails had firm bases, with some break up during the day due to parades of happy hikers on this beautiful March day. Big Earl was right when he claimed this was a day to expose yourself, on a ridge above tree line. Conditions could not be much better. Blue bird sky, warm sun, 360 views, some wind on a mild day. Vermont 4K’s were all visible and clear. Ridge winds were blowing from the north and east in the morning, which made it feel like winter. Snow bridges are all intact, but I expect with the warm days coming this week, they will break down.
Special Equipment Required: Micro spikes and hillsounds were most popular today. Some Snow shoes on trail which helped with traction.
Comments: I’m not sure how beat up the falling waters trail became by the end of the day.
John (46+47)/48 winter.
