This is a very pleasant trail for getting one's legs into shape for further hiking. It follows the Sunapee Ragged Mountain Kearsarge Greenway to Mt. Kearsarge and back, a roundtrip distance of about 9.6 miles. It's also fairly close for us eastern Mass. folk. Going north on Interstate 89 you take exit 10, go right on North Road and then left on the Kearsarge Valley Road until you come to the Link trailhead. The trail blazes have been newly repainted and the path through a small clearcut area has been staked out making the trail much easier to follow. Except for a three quarter mile or so trek on a dirt logging road the trail is very woodsy and really sweet. Just follow the blazes and the orange arrows. The elevation gain is mostly in the final third of the trip as you approach the mountain itself. I actually took this trail on Tuesday (04/18) of this week so this report is just a bit late. The trail is relatively dry and, for the time being, bug free. It was an ultra clear day and the views from Kearsarge were absolutely stunning. Mark, nice meeting you on the summit. It was a great conversation we had.

Thanks for sharing your adventure Ray. Little mountains are such a gem, including this one with the fantastic view toward Franconia Notch and the region.
