Mt. A (I always misspell this peak's name)

Date: Sunday, April 27, 2014

We started at the small parking area beside the auto road and made our way to the Porcupine Trail and up to Second Hill. From there we made our way along the ridgeline, north, and then down into the valley. These trails wind back and forth rather than straight up and down, which is nice and adds a lot to the days (miles and pleasure). We had a map but found it not of much help, and somewhere coming down off Third Hill we missed the Notch Trail and then found an off-the-grid house off in the middle of nowhere. We carefully skirted around it to see if there was a drive or road, but couldn't spot one. After leaving the property on a herd path, we found our way by bushwacking through the woods and near the top of Second spotted the towers over on the main peak.

Great day to be out. No bugs, many mayflower beginning to bloom. Saw a few out walking with dogs and a couple groups of mountain bikers. The Mt. A summit has been cleared extensively for views all around, which would be nice to take in if it wasn't raining. No snow patches, not much mud.

Don't know our mileage, but we were out from about 9:00 to 3:00.
