Trail Conditions: Very similar to the conditions reported by Scott earlier in the week. Thank you very much, Scott, it helped us a lot.
The Gale River Road is still open and easy driving.
The trailhead had just a dusting of snow. The lower portions of the trail did have some icy spots mixed into the pine needles. Water crossings were very do-able today. No real ice build-up on the rocks. Soon, we were in decent snow.
The trail was packed to the summit. There were quite a few people on the trail today, so it's in great shape.
Special Equipment Required: We didn't wear any traction control and had no issues. Some folks we saw had microspikes, YakTrax, and Stabilicers. I agree with Scott that crampons would be overkill and the trail was too narrow for snowshoes.
Comments: Beautiful day for a walk and this is a great trail. The summit wasn't socked in, but the cloud deck was just a couple hundred feet up. Looking east and west, both South Twin and Lafayette were in the clouds.
