Date of Hike: 1/2/2010
Trail Conditions: Trail completely snow-covered and packed out. Warm day caused some slushiness and melting. A few icy patches. Snow bridges over the larger water crossings were borderline stable.
Special Equipment Required: Group used microspikes the whole way. Snowshoes might have been helpful in some spots. Of 9 people on the trail, 2 were in snowshoes, the other 7 either used spikes or bare-booted. Traction necessary on the final climb to the summit.
Comments: Warm (36 degrees) and rainy at the start. Rain quit about 9AM just as we started hiking. Sun came out about a mile below the summit, and we got some nice views once on top. It fogged in just after noon when we started to descend, so the other 6 people may have only gotten a view of clouds.
The Gray Jays followed us from the Webster Br/Jackson Br junction all the way to the summit and back.
