Both Laura Cowles and Sunset Ridge Trails are well-designed, laid out, brushed and blazed. LC Trail climbs directly from Underhill State Park to the base of the chin. Quick turnaround on top and descent via Sunset Ridge almost as direct.
Cantilever Trail near the bottom is a quick walk over to Cantilever Rock - a spectacular needle-like rock poking a bony finger 25 or 30 feet out from the cliff where it is wedged under heavier weight above.
The promised partly sunny weather proved to have a bit of rain in it this morning, so views from the top were rather gray.
Saw eight people on the trail while we were descending. Just three hours for a round trip to the top and a brief side trip to Cantilever Rock. I need to get back to get pictures with better lighting.
