Date of Hike: 12-27-2007
Trail Conditions: Trail is packed out from Crawford Depot to the summit. Water crossings were very do-able. No blowdowns. No ice. Great trail!
Special Equipment Required: Saw a pair of hikers in snowshoes, and the man who was ahead of us on the trail was bare-booting. We just used Stabilicers and "hiking" Kahtoolas. As long as we didn't take a misstep off the packed trail, we did just fine. No postholing. Poles would have been helpful on the water crossing on the Avalon trail.
Comments: Snow started to come down in earnest during our descent. Conditions may be different than reported here, depending on how much snow actually fell later in the day on Thursday. Gorgeous day to be out!
