I should add that this hike has convinced me that I need to get a new White Mountain Guide. My 10-year-old edition didn't have the loop trail mentioned or shown on the map, so there was a little trepidation on my part when we went up there.

Nah. Just do what I did, get the updated, Tyvek AMC maps. I don't think that there are that many changes to make it worth buying the whole new guide. Plus, it keeps a bit of mystery.
