Off Trail near Carter Dome

I am planning a trip to Carter Dome and Wildcat in June. Looking for any suggestions for off-trail camping sites (you guys have been great in the past). The AMC hut has gone full-service at $90 a night - too much for me and the whole family. Any help would be great. Can't wait to get back to the Whites.
