Seeing the weekend was looking like cloudy skies and maybe a little rain I thought Old Speck might be a hike to bag one more peak off my winter NEHH list.

I headed out to Grafton North from Nahant, MA early Saturday morning thinking I could at least get some exercise if the trail wasn't broken out...knew I couldn't break trail all the way to the summit by myself.

Started up the trail at 10:30a.m., I was feeling good...so far the trail was broken out. After about 1.5 miles the fun broken out trail stopped. So, I thought I'd continue a little and then trun around.

I stopped for a rest, turned around, and OMG, there behind me was a team of about 8 students coming in from Dartmouth College. I was so excited. There was a couple who broke trail for a while but had to head back to pick up their kids at Sunday River.

Made it to the summit, thanks to the team from Dartmouth.

Snow shoes needed all the way.

Had a great hike. #90 of my winter NEHH.

P.S. for those who want to know...Baldpate was not broken out.
