Pretty cool, but insanely expensive, even at a discount... is made out of western red cedar though..

Adirondak Guide Boats

Have you seen these boats before?

Not kayaks, but a pretty nifty craft. Read somewhere that hunters would carry moose and deer in them. They only weight about 40 lbs. Saw at the Wooden Boat Show in Portland one year, really pieces of art, but they will take a beating. Had thoughts of building one, as if I had space in my garage. There is a whole group of people involved in building these "strip" boats, canoes and kayaks.
