We ascended Pierce by the Crawford Path and followed WCT south as far as the bogs below Jackson, returning by Mizpah Cutoff. Trails were consistently firm snow with only a few minor icy spots. One low blowdown on the Crawford Path. No crossings.
We wore microspike ST's car-to-car. No postholing issues whatsoever.
Fun, but cold, windy day with Giff, Sarah and Michael, Amy and Mike B. A couple we encountered who had ascended Jackson by the WJ Trail reported lots of ice on its lower portions as well as the usual ice on the cone of Jackson.
