Pierce & Eisenhower: March 18 via Crawford Path

Trail Conditions: There was a thin layer of snow over relatively soft ice. Easy footing for the day. There was some minor mud below the trail junction for the Mizpah Hut and some areas of wind-scoured rock on and between both Pierce and Ike.

I started in crampons and quickly moved to microspikes. The hikers I encountered today were either wearing microspikes or barebooting.

Special Equipment Required: microspikes and poles were handy today, but not entirely necessary. The wind was fierce at times, so goggle and a balaclava wouldn't be a bad idea.

Comments: Plenty of nice folks on the trail today and three dogs who didn't appear to be needing any form of traction.
