Ishmael and I headed out from Point au Roche in an ESE breeze with lots of powerboat chop. With no skeg, my greenland style kayak had a powerful weathercock and as a consequence I was taking two strokes on the right for every one on the left. We made it to Pelots Point in about an hour and found a gravely beach with rounded flat stones to beach the boats. We found a Tiki bar and had a breather. In the 45 minutes we spent at Pelot Point, the wind increased in strength from 10- to 15+ knots from the NW and the waves increased to greater than a foot. We ducked inside the cut and in the lee of "Point of Tongue" things were much more managable. We paddled up the Alburg Passage for about a mile and half, turned around and headed back for a closer cut in the wall. The breeze still up was exausting as I was now taking 4-6 six strokes on the right to everyone on the left. We ducked into a tiny cove on Cloak Island that was very interesting. Took lots of photos from a small bluff. The leg from Cloak Island to Point au Roche was similarly difficult.

Yesterday, on the smaller wave free lakes this boat was much better behaved. Gotta finish the skeg for this boat.
