road in to Zealand Falls??

Anyone know if the road into Zealand is closed for the winter?

Anyone else feel that $33 per night to stay in a AMC hut in winter is rather high? It is going to go up in 2010 I understand.

Anyone know the URL for finding out what raods are open/closed in the Whites?

Everything is pretty much still open.

$33 is worth it if you don't want to tent. Is it too much money? That's up to you to decide. Keeping the place open has its costs.

Many a time I've stopped by these in the winter just to come in out of the weather and/or get some water.

....which does not cost anything. Seems fair enough to me that the over-nighter folks subsidize us day-hikers.
