Save the date:Sixth Annual Crawford Notch Christmas Bird Count.
Dec 18 2010.

We enter into our sixth year; however, it is a 111 year old tradition with the National Audubon Society. The activity involves a one day census of every bird counted within a 7.5mi radius centered on the AMC Highland Center. The area encompasses many 4k peaks as well as brooks, rivers and bogs. The event welcomes birders and hikers of all abilities. Participants need to be ready for winter conditions. We have had participants on snowshoes, cross country skies and in cars.
So if you need to log in some trail time before the official start of the winter peak bagging season (starting the following Tue) please join us.

The AMC is offering lodging packages. Participants can take advantage of these packages or just join up one or none of the following; breakfast, reception, or compilation dinner. Please contact me if you are interested [email protected] or link onto for further information.

Count me in! It's refreshing to think about winter soon becoming a reality on a ghastly day like today.

Thanks for all of the interest. I will post a list of the rotes next week so that you can stake your claim.

Vegematic are you interested in doing your usual Zealand Road?

Bum, looks like we will have winter conditions again this year.

Three cheers to Craig for all the work he put into this year's bird count! We had wonderfully mild and wind-free weather.

If you have any interest in birds, I do recommend joining the count next year.
