Damn! It's winter up there! Plenty of snow on the ground and sticking to the trees. The snow is mostly frozen, but you still need 'shoes to avoid postholing.
Joe C and I broke out the Camp Dodge shortcut, the Imp and North Carter Trails. At lower elevations there's still a lot of pesky running water on the Imp. I made the mistake of letting my snowshoe crampons get wet and eventually accumulated quite a block of ice under each one. (I've taken to carrying a putty knife to deal with it.) The Carter Moriah Trail was totally white and scenic, temps in the low twenties. Gusty winds in the few exposed places and no views (in the clouds). Met some folks coming the other way after Middle Carter. Carter Dome Trail and 19MB totally packed down.
