Trails: Rocky Branch Tr to Stairs Col Tr to Davis Path to Stairs Mt Spur and return.

Trail Conditions: All trails are in reasonable shape and all crossings easy. Muddy and and slippery sections on Stairs Col Trail but there seems to have been considerable work on this trail since we last hiked it in 2004. Thankful for the numerous rock steps. Most of the 0.4 mile on Davis Path is rough and steep. Views south, east and west are fantastic. Stairs Col is a delightfully wild place.

Special Equipment Required: Poles, especially for descending Stairs Col.

Comments: Gradually increasing length and difficulty of hikes for Abby the puppy, who is about 25 lbs. She had no difficulty with any of the steep sections and delighted in the mud and water from the recent storms, running circles around us. Another spectacular hike with great views for mainly moderate effort. 8.8 miles and 2000' gain, about 4 1/2 hours with a long break on the top.
