Mary and I went for a short wander in the Mink Hills in Henniker NH on Sunday. It was a very nice day and we came upon a bunch of foot prints that we couldn't identify using our fogged memories. These prints were different from any of the other winter critters we were familiar with but when we got back to civilization we found on pages 60 and 61 of "A field Guide to Animal Tracks" by Olaus J. Murie, we had a perfect match with the track of a Fisher. If you are interested in this stuff, I recommend the book. This recommendation is based on the 8th printing of the 1954 edition.

It's not always a popular sentiment here in New England (home to some justifiably well-regarded authors on this subject), but Olaus has been my go-to guy for many years.
