Those granitic "slides" that everyone is so fond of skiing have a potentially deadly double entendre in their name.
When I was checking road condition on the VT DOT site last evening I noticed that a snow slide had closed the highway near West Burke, VT. Slides aren't that common in VT, but they do happen. I recall a similar one several years ago that closed the highway for a time in Northfield Gulf (a gulf in VT is what a notch is in NH).
