Tripyramids via Pine Bend Brook Trail, 4-27-13
Trail Conditions:Trail is free of snow and wet in places down low. All in our large group put on light traction about a 1/4 of the way up. Snow was firm in the morning, softening as the beautifully warm day went on. There are still several feet of snow at the upper elevations. On the way down we had slick, slushy, granular snow. Good for post holing if not just in the firmest spot. I did notice several on the way down. One in our group snowshoed part way down. A good amount of snow that was had on the way up had melted on the way down. All brook crossings were not problematic. It was easy to get your feet wet after repeated crossings on some rocks just barely under water. No ice all day.
Special Equipment Required: I brought and used a change of socks. Light traction and small showshoes. Poles for water crossings.
Comments: Awesome day in the 50's on the summits with no wind and clear views.
