In case the paywall pops up, the road to the trailhead was washed out recently, there have been temporary repairs but the road needs major repairs in the long run and one option is discontinue the road.
What would be the role of the parties that are conservation stewards from a financial standpoint? Are they non profit? Therefore would it not be charitable for them to be tossing their hat into the ring?

How far from the washout to the trailhead?

The Benton Trail off Tunnel Brook Road had about 1.5 miles added when the Forest Service decided they couldn't permanently repair a washout.

Sorry, no details on location. Given the abuse the area gets, adding a few miles to the hike would not be bad thing;)

BTW, the FS built a very nice road to the Tunnel Brook trail a few years ago, they just haven't let the public drive on it yet ;)
