UPDATE: Product Warning - Bear Vault

Bear Vault has posted an update on the Backpacker.com website:

BV250/300's account for three of the seven failures. The two 300's appear to not have been properly closed (cross-threaded). Bear Vault has not yet received the BV 250. The canisters remain certified by the SIBBG.

Ya know, I've noticed this lack of tolerances in closing my newer style BV300. If I'm not careful, or close it too hastily, I notice that the lid has a tendency to ride up and out over the little plastic nubble on the can. I have to remember to push the lid in so the nubble stays on the outside of the lid.

I wonder if this is what the post refers too as "incorrect closure" of the lid.

I have the same problem with my bear container. Seems like user error could be eliminated with a better design.

Figured I'd post that I also encounter the same problem closing my vault.
I figured that it was better to push on the lid early while closing and it will thunk into place. Haven't had an issue since I experimented with ways of closing it.
