Waumbek: 11-23-13
Trail Conditions: There is a minor dusting, at the moment, at lower elevation. There are some hidden icy sections beginning at the first swing of the trail from the river until the summit of Starr King. In the col and nearing the summit of Waumbek there are some deeper drifts (about 3-4").
Special Equipment Required: Poles were helpful. Microspikes made the day much more enjoyable and safer.
Comments: Optional - When I arrived at the lot there was only one vehicle but by my descent at noon there were four other parties. It wasn't nearly as windy as I expected and there was a light snow that brought flurries periodically. A beautiful day to be in the trees.
