What's up with the dam on Lonesome Lake?

I noticed last weekend that the dam on Lonesome Lake is getting worked on. As you come up the trail and hit the lake there are signs directing you around the long way to get to the hut. Not that it's that much further going around the lake (I wasn't going to the hut so it didn't matter to me anyway), but I thought I'd provide a heads-up for anyone heading that way. I hadn't seen any mention of this previously (although I didn't look too hard).

It doesn't say how long this is going on for. Anyone know?

I noticed in early April that water was sneaking its way around the end of the dam, eroding a channel and starting to undermine it. It was clearly in need of repair at that time.
