19 Mile Brook Trailhead to Carter Dome, then over to Wildcats A and D.

(It looks like they're supposed to get 7 fresh inches today, so this trip report is probably moot, but here it is anyway.)

19 MB to the Dome was well-packed until Zeta pass, when the snow got deep and rough; some poor bare booter in front of us had post-holed it quite a bit. The Wildcats were really tough. We had heard at the hut that the trail to the Wildcats was broken. However it wasn't anymore, so we had to break it most of the way. The snow was 1-2 feet deep and the ascents were tough, with a lot of sliding and sinking in soft snow. The trail had probably been walked a day or so earlier, but there was so much wind that it was 90 percent drifted over. If you have 22" snowshoes, you'll want the extra tails.
