I have the Gazetteer, and it points out established campsites and ones that require landowner permission. Regarding the Public Reserve Lands, as long as you're cooking on a stove and don't have a fire, is it OK to just go in 1/4 to 1/5 mile into the woods and camp, assuming you'll be following LNT guidelines? I'll be looking around the Greenville area, likely the public land adjacent to Big Moose Mtn a little west of Greenville. Any recommendations, precautions would be great. Thanks.

Reserved Lands

There is a fair amount of information on Maine's website about PRL's.

Use the "choose from list below" feature here and look for "Little Moose".

Some sites require a fire permit which is easily obtained from MFS if conditions allow.
