Route: Stratton Pond trailhead on the Arlington-Stratton Road
Date: 5/18/12 - 5/19/12

Trails are fairly dry with some muddy spots but nothing that requires gaitors, IMO. Spring at Stratton Pond and the stream up on the LT between SP and the South summit is running well.

Note: the North Shore trail that leads .5 miles to the North Shore tent platforms is closed and under water due to beaver activity. You will see the paper map of the area and a new sign indicating that the route to the tent platforms is currently by taking a left at the willis clearing to the Lye Brook trail and go counterclockwise around the lake to the tent platforms. There is a 'trail closed' sign just past the bridge over a cove on the pond on the north shore trail.

It seems like this may be the permanent route now until the campsites get moved such that it is not so far off the AT/LT and an alternative to the Shelter on the SE side... We camped at the caretaker's site since it was unoccupied and fit both our tents... It is an awesome spot if the caretaker is not in residence!!!

The LT is in good shape, nothing to report. There is a downed beech tree between the south summit and the LT trailhead on arlington-stratton road but it is passable and there is already a herdpath around it...
