Generally what works is finger food type entrees. There really arent any good options for warming things up beside a BBQ grill and there isnt a place to plug in a crock pot nearby. Normally there are plenty of desserts. If you do bring something that needs spooning out bring a spoon and if it needs to be be put in a bowl bring some paper or plastic bowls. If you want your containers back, mark them prominently.
