    MSR WhisperLite Tips?

Bill, I have had no problems with my whisperlite, although I have not used it in all conditions (e.g., raging blizzard). It's pretty simple to use. Probably the best tip I can give you is to have someone who has used the stove walk you through the process. Much easier than reading...

    MAGIC - The gathering

Sounds like a great hike. Natasha and I were breaking camp when you guys were coming up the trail. We didn't know it was your group until David, bad knee and all, caught up with us on the way down. The VFTT gave him away.

Sherrill Mountain and North Dome -- 1/28/06

With temperatures in the 30s and a cloudless sky, Saturday was a perfect day for a winter hike. Ken Huber had assembled a crowd of 12, including himself, for a group assault on these two trailess summits. After stationing three cars at the Devil's Path trailhead on Spruceton Road, we started...

    Fitting crampons on non-technical boots

    hiking Christmas Eve day?

Hiking to the refrigerator and back can be extremely dangerous, in all seasons. After that sixth beer, you might want to strap on the stabilizers and make sure you've got your poles handy. A helmet might not be a bad idea either.

    Fitting crampons on non-technical boots

Not being a seasoned veteran, I can't answer your questions from experience, and that's really what you need. But I did a little research no these points for you, and google told me that a fellow member werdigo49 just bought the same boots as you, so maybe he can give you some insights...

    Fitting crampons on non-technical boots

Hey, just have to say hello from a fellow ex-Michigander. I came to NYC in 1982, so I'm just getting used to New York. I'm wondering, your name, sleeping bear, that wouldn't be a reference to some kind of dunes would it? Anyway, not to get off topic, so I have to say something about crampons...

Anyone Know What's Doing in the Catskills???

Here in NYC it was in the 50s this morning, all the snow has melted and temperatures are now dropping. I'm thinking of heading up to the Catskills for a hike tomorrow, and just wonder what to expect. Was there much of a thaw up there? Is it likely everything is going to be glaced over...
