I'll start with the Asolo's and also look at some of the trail running shoes. I am not concerned with winter hiking at the moment, but I may want to have some level of water proofing for her (she has a tendency to fully enjoy the stream crossings :) so that might eliminate the trail runners.

Negative 27.5 when I took the dogs outside this morning. Had to carry the little one out (he's the smart one), the big one is too dumb to know its cold out.

Is there just the one trail up to Crawford and if so any idea of the time that should be allowed for a large group (11)? Not having been up it before, I may want to check it out over the weekend.

Whiteface should be okay, no major crossings, but some of the ledges higher up could be a bit slick, Lafayette up Bridal Path across the ridge and back would be a safe bet We're joining the herds up Washington on Saturday (benefit hike or else I would avoid at all costs!)

Plan B Broke out the road bikes and went for a long ride instead. If I wait another couple of weeks the black flies may be out in force. You know nothing says says spring like black flies! Thanks for the comments, they were helpful.
