Ice Ax I've used the Black Diamond Raven Pro 70cm with great success. This length seems to be perfect for general mountaineering.

    Which 4-season Tent?

When looking to purchase a four season tent I feel more comfortable and confident buying a shelter with a proven track record like the TNF VE-25, Himalayan 47 or on the smaller size the Mountain 25 or the 36.

    Which 4-season Tent?

Winter tent considerations I would also consider seriously TNF Mountain 25 or the Mountain 36. Both great winter tents but smaller than the VE-25; cost less also but equivalent in strength.

    Which 4-season Tent?

Winter tent I've used the North Face VE-25 for years and was never disappointed. It's a proven winter performer all over the world for many years. As of late I've also used (only because it's larger) the North Face Himalayian, one of the most outstanding winter tents I ever used. www.northface.com

    Backpacking boot question.

I agree with Kevin. Ten years is a long time for a pair of boots. Now just think, that if the next pair are Limmers - How long they will last!
