Black Fly Update

I was in the northern Lake George region this past weekend 5-29 thru 6/1 and the Black Flies were out in full force. Some biting not as many as I thought for the amount of them. I was with 5 other people and fortunate for me, they didn't seek my blood as often as they sought theirs. But they were in mass abundance at times. A friend of mine lathered himself in DEET but it had no apparent effects as he continued to be slaughtered Saturday afternoon.

Just thought I'd let some folks know the recent conditions in that area.

FWIW, black flies were almost non-existent in the Catskills 6/1/8.

At the bottom of Gore Mtn yesterday I was eating them with each breath. Towards the middle to top section the breeze kept them away.

I spent the weekend around my house cutting, collecting, splitting firewood and was not troubled by them at all. No ticks, and very few mosquitos. Life is good in Central New Hampshire.

Gone by mid-August?

What are the chances of the black flies becoming dead flies by mid-August?

I was in the High Peaks area two weeks ago and the black flies were non-existent.

Just got back from a week in the norhtern Lake George area and did not come across any black flies - and the mosquitoes were at a minimum as well.
