If you're talking about ravine of Hellgate Brook on Bonds, I've been there half a dozen times.
As the previous posters mention, vegetation is generally better near the ravine bottom, one visiting Adk hiker said "This isn't thick, you can see the next person", but with the possible exception of a short section on Bondcliff you can climb out anywhere if you don't mind thick scrub.
