Trails are pretty slimy after a week of rain. Both folks are experienced backpackers with backpacks on so they have a higher center of gravity. It is interesting that one hiker attributed their fall to a broken hiking pole, generally poles break as consequence of a slip not the cause. Appalachia was quite full on Sunday but not much traffic on Saturday. The stalled low pressure system has been over the Canadian border and the regional forecasts along with typical bike week optimism to get the bikers to head north means many people have underestimated how wet it has been. The one trade off was no wildfire smoke.
