Unknown Pond Tr. from Mill Pond Road is muddy in spots, but not bad. Above Unknown Pond, you will encounter small patches of snow/ice that are easily barebooted. Snow and ice increase starting in the sag between the Bulge and Cabot and continuing up Cabot to the summit, covering 50% of the trail. Spikes are recommended (I wish I’d put mine on when I entered the sag). A few steps of post-holing, but snowshoes are not required. The top in open and dry.
