Location
at Madison summit
Parked along Rt. 302 on the opposite side of the trail, a short distance past the trail, on a pull off with plenty of room.
Trail: Mt. Tremont; clear sailing with dry, wet, and some muddy spots until well up near the switchbacks, where we ran into some deeper snow section. We used microspikes from then up to the summit. A few larger obstacle blowdowns after the last water crossing (rock hopped). Started early and beat bad weather; gray skies views but ok; nice view into Sawyer Ponds area etc. Stony Brook has some nice pools and cascades to enjoy in warmer weather...on the trail one can see from Crawford Notch mountains all the way around to Kearsarge North, through the leafless trees and at some blowdown spots, making this a still 52WAV....
