Easy navigating on the very packed Van Hovenburg trail. The trail up Phelps was loose at points with occasional breakthroughs if one stepped to wide. Very deep snow and reasonable winds accompanied the fantastic view from the top. Only about 35 square yards of the rocky ledge was not covered with snow. Had fun wallowing in the deep snow on top to find the true summit.
