stubborn bite valve

I have a new bite valve that doesn't want to split. The package warns not to use a knife on it. I chewed it yesterday for a while and couldn't get it to operate.
any ideas?

I'd try taking a brand new very thin razor blade and cutting right where you think the factory cut might be. It might make it leak, but that's probably your only solution, short of returning it.

always used an x-acto knife myself (camelback valves).

Use the point of the knife to start it. All instructions tell ya not to use a knife. They don't want sued.

I recently had the same issue. I used a pocketknife and the valve has worked fine.
