What does everyone here take for food on hikes to keep them going? I'm looking for some new ideas (recipes welcome!) since I've started to find that energy bars just make me want to wait for something better at the end of the hike. Any ideas for gastronomic delights on the trail?

snacks

If i'm doing something harder than average or if I'm dying and wishing the car was miles closer, I spoil myself with these snacks to get a nice little jumpstart:

(1) gushers
(2) fruit leather
(3) peppered beef jerky
(4) pringles
(5) Banana crisps

nothing extraordinary there, but thought i'd share

KFC Popcorn chicken. I take it on every hike, it packs well, doesn't crumble, and for some reason it tastes really good outdoors.
Also, I bring a Snak-Pak pudding and a Doles fruit cup. They're a bit on the heavy side but they taste good too!
