On Saturday, February 28th, we headed up 19 Mile Brook Trail to the Carter Notch Hut (very easy hike and well packed), dropped off our gear and headed to hike the Wildcat Ridge over to "D" and back to the hut... never happened.... the trail heading up to Wildcat A is not marked well. It was very easy to lose trail... and lose trail we did. It was quite a bushwhack up to the summit of Wildcat A.

I'll just call it an adventure and move on. It was too late by the time we got to the summit, so we headed back to the hut.

Anyone heading up, be very careful, the trail is really not well marked....and just because the real trail doesn't look like anyone's been on it... don't go the other way following someone else's footprints. Wow! I am definately learning a lot this year.

On Sunday, February 29th, headed up Carter Dome via the Carter Moriah Trail, from the Carter Notch Hut. Crampons were needed for traction all the way to the summit. It was a beautiful sunny day. We were able to see to the summits of Madison, Adams, Jefferson and Washington. It was well worth the quick and steep hike. We barebooted down to the view area and then need crampons the rest of the way down. It was very icy.

Great warm weekend.
