trails: Piper trail, West Side trail
conditions: dry trail. Patches of snow/ice (monorail) above the Piper / Champney junction.
equipment: axes, loppers, and hazel hoes
comments: Beautiful day on Mt. Chocorua. Huge group from U. of Michigan at summit. They were there (on the summit) for most of the day. Someone vandalized the signage (paper) at the camp. Will try and get that replaced.
Piper is clear of blowdowns to the summit. I also patrolled and brushed the West Side trail (which I've now also adopted). This isn't a popular trail but a good alternative in a storm.
Started work on drainages from the top down. More work to come. Trillium and hobblebush blooming. Blackflies pretty bad but not on the summit.
