Success Pond Road Status???

Does anybody know the current status of Success Pond Road? Has it been opened to traffic from the Berlin end for 2012?

Any current information is appreciated.

Since May is "done" I'm thinking small for this weekend. A little variety is always nice.

I'm not sure about whether the North side is open or not, but I drove to the Goose Eye trailhead just this past weekend. A couple of the culverts are unburied, one in particular, and could be tricky in a low-clearance vehicle. Generally it's in pretty good shape but they haven't graded / maintained it yet this year.

Depressingly, the lack of maintenance is going to be "terminal" in a few years as the owner of the NH end is rapidly running out of wood to cut and plans to sell it. Without maintenance the road rapidly going to become unpassable as most years, sections wash out and have to be rebuilt. Given the "haircut" the woods have been given, its going to be a generation or so before there are trees to cut. The Maine end is managed more reponsibly so there may be better maintenance, but its highly dependent on the owners management plan. A major culvert blew out at one time east of the trails and the road was closed for at least a year from the east.
